Protecting Your Privacy on SubDom

Last updated 1 July 2026

Discretion matters more here than on most dating apps. Here is how to keep control of your information.

1. Your profile

Avoid identifying details in your bio or photos. Workplace lanyards, house numbers, car number plates and recognisable local landmarks all narrow down who you are faster than people expect.

A face photo is not required to have a good profile. Many members use photos that do not show their face, at least until they have built trust with someone.

2. Account security

Use a unique password for your SubDom account and turn on two-factor authentication if it is available. Reusing a password from a breached site is the most common way accounts get taken over.

Use a dedicated email address for dating profiles if discretion matters to you. It also makes it easy to spot if that address ever turns up in a data breach.

3. Sharing images and information with matches

Anything you send can be screenshotted or saved, regardless of the app. Share at the pace you are comfortable with, and treat pressure to share more, faster, as a red flag rather than persistence.
